Adverts!
Modified By Miles on 2/14/2008 1:49:32 PM)

Is anyone else getting annoyed with these "I'm so quirky" adverts (normally for a mobile phone)? Ok, so you can throw coloured ribbons around or propel them up a wall for your mullet wearing friends to catch while the latest indie darlings play over the top. Maybe I'm just bitter that I'm not that creative, but then again if I was I certainly wouldn't spend my time running around the city trying to create a rainbow. (I'm a bitter film critic that never enjoys anything interesting) (except teletubbies, that was awesome)

Re: Adverts!

I think they've lost the whole, quirky for the sake of being new and inventive feel, and now they're just quirky for the sake of being quirky. They don't really do anything for me, although maybe I'm not their target demographic. I'd much rather know I'm getting a good deal; give me features, prices and benefits anyday.

Re: Adverts!

I hear what you're saying. To me they just look like some exec's seen a Michel Gondry movie and gone, "i really dig the whole low-tech vibe in a technology fuelled generation- what say we cleverly invert our modern products by using props that look like they've come out of a school play. Genius!" But you know what? There are sooo many dire adverts on TV; those goddamn BT ads mith the hopelessly miscast guy from My Family and Love Actually playing the hen-pecked house-bound step dad. Give me colourful paint explosions and bouncy balls anyday!
