Most people really don't understand the scope and potential that a website offers. Your website gives you the chance to build new low cost, high margin products often all based on your existing expertise. Many of us, particularly in the service industry, are restricted as to the revenue we can generate by the number of hours that we can charge. Having some form of intellectual property that can be purchased at any time from your website is immediately leveraging its value. An example of this is by creating an eBook. If you have some expertise in a particular area, try and produce a downloadable eBook that you might be able to sell or at least use as a tool for creating leads. It could be an online course, a series of podcasts, video clips or images. There is really no limit to the possibilities once you start thinking about them. These added value items don't all have to be chargeable – they create a relationship and trust and leverage your value. Whatever you do, don’t just make your website a passive marketing tool for your products and services. Look at ways of creating new products and new income streams for your business.
