Every business guru spouts it. It jumped off the page in every business start-up book I picked up when I was thinking about starting my own business. They were all driving home the same message about what to do when choosing a name for your business.. “Choose a name that ‘means something’. A name that ‘describes’ your business. People should ‘get it’ immediately”. And, if it’s not going to describe what you do, make damn sure they have a reason for remembering the name. The best idea, it speared, was to do both!”
I took them at their word, mulling it over constantly trying to find the perfect solution. And when I least expected it, standing at a bus stop, it came to me in a flash. “Tiles to Di for”. It was perfect. My name is Diana. My business is hand-painted, bespoke ceramic tiles and bone china tableware. I liked the spin on “simply to die for”.
It’s worked for me and it seems to work for my customers who ‘get it’. Good luck with doing the same for your business.
